"So..." Masaki said, breaking the silence that had lingered in the air for a while. They were now in the middle of some cleaning after the cafe's closing time, before heading home.
"In the end, it's Jun who won the competition, huh?"
From beside the tall man, Satoshi hummed, signing that he was listening.
Masaki chuckled and shook his head. "Man, I envy him so much. Sho-chan is such a kind person. And he's so handsome. Jun sure is lucky to win his heart, don't you think?"
"He is," Satoshi nodded in agreement, while wiping the dishes dry, then handed them to Masaki, who's in charge to line them neatly back on the dish rack before him.
"Pity for me that I lost," Masaki shrugged.
Silence again.
There were just the sound of the water in the sink, and the clink-clank sound of the dishes in their hands.
"Speaking about that competition," Masaki began again, "Now that I think about it, Satoshi-kun, you're the only one among us four, who didn't seem to be interested to Sho-chan."
Satoshi nodded again.
"Why is that?"
"Hmm..." Satoshi fell silent for a while, hesitated, before then decided to give an honest answer, "Because I already have someone in my heart, since long before we meet Sho-kun."
"Eeehh???" Masaki turned to stare at his older friend, surprised, "I've never heard about that before. Who's that lucky boy?"
"Hmm..." Satoshi hummed again, with a small smile on his lips.
"Oh, come on, Satoshi-kun," Masaki nudged the older man's side, with a wide grin on his face, "Tell me."
A short silence again, before Satoshi finally spoke up, "It's Nino."
"Whoaaa!!" Masaki's eyes widened, his mouth hanging open, "Whoaaa! That really is a surprise!"
Satoshi threw a sheepish grin towards the taller.
"Just..." Masaki was almost speechless from Satoshi's surprising confession, "Since when, exactly???"
"Since the first time I saw him," Satoshi said. Masaki whoo-ed at him, but then he quickly added, "Which is of course, a lie."
"Eeh? Mou! Be serious, Satoshi-kun," Masaki slapped his shoulder playfully, with a pout on his lips. Satoshi giggled.
"Well," the older man sighed, stopped drying the dishes, then started to speak again, with a longing gaze on his eyes, "I don't really remember since when, but... When I realized, I already have this feeling towards him..."
Masaki hummed, encouraging the older to continue.
"I... I don't know. It's just like that I could suddenly feel what he feels. Just like our feeling suddenly in sync. When he's happy, I feel happy too. And when he's sad, then I, too, would feel sad. It feels like a great burden for me to see no smile on his face. And that's what makes me want to always keep the smile on that face..."
"So that's why even though you like him that much, you kept encouraging him to go after Sho-chan...?" Masaki concluded.
Satoshi nodded. "To be honest, I'm happy that in the end Sho-kun chooses Jun, and not Nino. Even though I know it makes him sad. And I really feel like a jerk because of that..." He lowered his head to stare sadly at a half-dry plate in his hands.
"No, no. Don't be," Masaki tapped his back in his attempt to cheer the older up, "You've endured enough these last several weeks, watching Nino chasing on another man. Encouraging him to do that... So it's okay to be happy to think that in the end, it turns out that you still have a chance."
"Is that so?" Satoshi lifted his gaze to meet Masaki's. The younger nodded vigorously.
"Man, Nino sure is the densest man in the world. How could he not notice all of your affection for him?" Masaki spoke out loud, still in his attempt to make Satoshi felt better, "If I were him, then I would've seen you, Satoshi-kun, and never join that silly 'Getting Sho-chan's Attention' competition."
Someone coughed behind them in an exaggerated manner, then a high-pitched voice followed, "Just like you will, Aiba-shi."
Masaki and Satoshi immediately turned towards the owner of the voice, who had been washing the dirty dishes in the sink behind them the whole time they were there--but now had paused from doing that activity to throw a death glare towards them, with his pair of piercing light-brown eyes, and a big pout on his thin lips.
Nino.
"Of course I will, Nino," Aiba replied stubbornly.
"No, you won't," Nino rolled his eyes, sighing tiredly. Then he stole a glance towards Satoshi, and when their eyes met, he couldn't help but turned red all at once.
He quickly averted his gaze from the older's before he burnt himself down from shyness, then added fiercely, "And you two should stop gossiping about me behind my back! Especially when you're literally right there, behind my back! That's... That's inconvenient, you know! Baka!"
"Oh," to Nino's surprise, it wasn't Masaki who spoke up this time. It was Satoshi. "I'm sorry if I've made you feel inconvenient... I was a bit carried away in this conversation..."
An awkward silence lingered among them.
"M-maa," Masaki tilted his head to the side awkwardly, "I've just remembered that it's my turn to clean the bathroom tonight, so I think I'd better go now, or Toma's gonna kill me. Er, Satoshi-kun, you don't mind to finish my part, do you?"
Satoshi shook his head, "Not at all."
"Great," Masaki quacked, "Then I'm going now. See you tomorrow!" He disappeared behind the door to their locker room, leaving his two friends in the awkwardness alone.
Nino let out a sigh. The tip of his ears were still burning red. "I never thought you'll ever feel that way about me," he mumbled.
"Yeah," Satoshi scratched the back of his head, "Me too. I was surprised the first time I found out about it."
"I see..." Nino bit his lower lip in his nervousness, still didn't dare to look at Satoshi's eyes.
The older took a step forward, closing the distance between them, making Nino's heart skipped a beat when he realized Satoshi was now that close to him.
"So...?" the older asked.
"Hmm?"
Nino felt his heart went crazy inside his ribcages. He knew exactly what Satoshi was going to ask him. It must be that question. That typical yes/no question people normally asked after they confessed (though in their case, it was more like an eavesdropping accident than a confession). However, he was just not feeling ready yet for that question. It all happened too fast, that Nino didn't know how he should answer if Satoshi really asked him about that. He wasn't sure about his own feeling towards the older, yet.
But to his surprise, it wasn't that question which flew out from Satoshi's mouth.
Instead, the older said, "What should I do now?"
"Eh?" Nino unconsciously raised his gaze to stare at Satoshi questioningly.
"Hmm," Satoshi swung his body back and forth awkwardly on his place, "I've made you feel inconvenient, right? So what should I do to make you feel better?"
Nino blinked several times, flustered. "You... You're not going to ask me about... that...?"
"About what?" Satoshi tilted his head.
"About ehm... My answer to your confession...?" Nino felt his face became hot again, as it once again turned red.
Satoshi laughed.
"I haven't even confessed to you yet," he said, "Just now, I was just consulting Masaki-kun about my love-life problem. And you were just accidentally be in the same room with us, and caught heard of it. That's all," he chuckled.
For a reason, Nino suddenly felt at ease.
"I'll definitely ask you about that, of course. But it's later, after I confess properly to you," Satoshi smiled, "For now, all I want to hear from you is the answer of this question: what do you want me to do to make up for my stupid mistake earlier?"
Nino threw a soft smile towards the older. "Jaa, how about some ramen after this? Your treat, of course."
Satoshi chuckled again, "Why not? Now let's finish this quickly, then we could have delicious tonkotsu ramen together."
Nino nodded, then they went back to work, with Satoshi humming some random happy tones, and Nino grinning wide like a high school girl in love.
He was happy. He knew the day when Satoshi would properly confessed to him would come very soon. But when that day really came, Nino was very sure, he would've already known what to say to the older.

A/N: So. I guess I finally come back...(?) Well, it has been a long time since our last post. RL's getting really mean to me these past six months -_-
But after this, I hope I can write regularly again (since works are slowly getting normal again now), so we could continue our postponed 30 Days Random Word Challenge project. Yay! \(´▽`)/
And by the way, we somehow made it into the Arashi Fanfiction Awards... ///////
We are CHOO HAPPY about that! XD
We never think of winning though, since there are so many greater authours out there. But just getting into the nomination itself has brought us this certain happiness. So, via this notes, I would like to thank you guys, who had nominated us! (Though we don't know who you are) ^^
For mabopiman, thank's for all your support and companionship. Let's work hard together again this year, too, okay? ^^
