"Sho-san! Okaeri!"
Sho's eyes were focused on a star-shaped ornament his wife had made while he was away at work. it was beautifully sewn and embroidered with golden and silver threads, the boring, white fabric was now a lovely decoration hung on their bedroom window.
"Wow... That's pretty," he commented, "...but why? A star? And on the window?"
"It's Christmas Eve, Sho-san," Aoi smiled, taking shy steps towards her loving husband, "...and I should tell you this," she giggled, hiding her face in sho's chest.
"What is it...?" Sho reached his hand to stroke his wife's long hair affectionately.
"I'm pregnant."
Sho's hand stopped. "Aoi-chan?"
Sho could feel his wife nodded in his chest before answering with a quiet but delighted 'yes'.
"......that's.... wonderful..."
"You see... The star on the East was the symbol of Jesus' birth... a miraculous birth," she lifted her head to stare into Sho's watery eyes, "that's why i made a star, Sho-san. I checked this morning, and here," she took Sho's hand in hers and put it on her belly, "Here, this miracle, finally happened, Sho-san. Our baby, is here."
Her eyes were glistening with tears of joy, and Sho couldn't help but felt the joy surging in him as well, tickling his eyelids and a drop of tear fell before he knew it. He took Aoi in his arms and hugged her tight, mumbling his gratefulness for his wife, for his marriage, for the miracle...
They spent the night debating about names and room decoration until they fell asleep, and when morning came and the sun rose, Sho could see the star decoration glittering under the morning sun...
...A dirty and worn out star decoration, still on its place, same as years ago. Every Christmas Eve the memories would return and bring painful warmth to his heart, and every Christmas it would pierce his heart, again and again.
"Ittekimasu, Aoi-chan, Akira-chan," he smiled and clasped his hands and said his greeting, in front of the family shrine with his wife's photo, and beside it, an ultrasonographic image of their unborn child.

A/N: Hello guys!! Mabo's back, though I can't promise you of regular update. This was originally made for Christmas, but we somehow got really busy and... yeah. Sorry for the out of season angst, but I hope you still enjoy this.
