“Masaki, come on… Stop sulking!”
The younger man just pouted and sniffled. “Sho-chan you meanie...” he hugged his knees tightly, curling into a small ball on the bed. Sho sighed and zipped his suitcase in one swift movement. He walked towards the bed and put his hands on his hips.
“Ma-sa-ki.”
Aiba turned away and sobbed. “It’s... It’s December, Sho-chan! You know it’s an important month for us!”
“Masaki, i’ll be in Hokkaido only for three days, okay? So please, don’t be childish.”
“Eh? Three days only!?” the younger bolted up and kneeled, puppy eyes staring right into Sho’s dark eyes. Sho could see imaginary tail waving from the younger’s butt.
“Goodness, Masaki, I’ve told you! You were busy with your own thoughts a second after I said I have to go for a sudden business trip!” Sho sat on one edge of the bed, facing his lover.
“So that means!?” Aiba crawled towards the side of the bed where Sho was sitting on.
“I’ll be home for Christmas, my dear,” Sho said, lifting Aiba’s chin. “And for your day.”
Aiba smiled and jumped to hug Sho tightly. “Thank you, Sho-chan!! Do your best, ne!”
“I will, Masaki. I’ll work hard for our future’s sake,” Sho rubbed his lover’s back and buried his face on his lover’s neck. Sho sniffed on Aiba’s shoulder, making the younger shivered and giggled. Aiba pulled back and rubbed the tip of his nose against Sho’s, making the older squeezed his eyes shut and chuckled.
“Gonna miss Sho-chan’s scent!” Aiba said, voice trembling both in happiness and unwillingness to let Sho go.
“Aww, come on, don’t cry!” Sho laughed seeing Aiba’s watery eyes and poked his sides here and there, making the younger jolted. He then continued to tickle him playfully.
“SHO-CHAN STOP!! Aw that tickles!! Sho-chan! Sho-chaaaaan!! Seriously!!! Stop it stop it stop it!!! Sho--”
Sho pushed Aiba down on the bed, eyes staring right into Aiba’s. He ran his hands down Aiba’s cheek, tracing his skin slowly as if afraid to hurt it--the stare and touch that made Aiba froze and instantly immobilized, his heartbeat painful against his ribcage.
“Sho… chan…?”
Sho’s lower lip trembled as he tried to mention his lover’s name. He dropped his head on Aiba’s chest, and brought it to his neck, nuzzling it feverishly, crying. “Masaki…”
“Eh? Eeeeh!? Sho-chan…? What’s wrong…? Aaah, there… there… My Sho-chan is not a crybaby… Why is he crying today?” Aiba kissed the top of Sho’s head and rubbed his back.
“Masaki, I…” Sho raised his head above Aiba’s.
“Hmm? Sho-chan what?” Aiba smiled softly. “Why are you cr… hmf!”
Instead of an answer, all Aiba got was a passionate kiss from Sho, like there was no tomorrow. Aiba protested, wanting an answer for his question, but soon surrendered to Sho’s kisses. Aiba’s hands reached for Sho’s neck to pull him closer every time the older broke for air, as if not letting him stop. Not letting him go. Not letting this moment go. Not letting the warmth fade. To fall deeper into love. To fall deeper into each other’s touch.
Tears trickled down their cheeks, giving a sad taste to their kisses. They panted as they stopped, gasping for air, wiping the mixed trace of tears on their faces.
“Masaki, I’ll miss you.”
“Me too, Sho-chan… Well... Now go,” Aiba said, fixing Sho’s messy collar and hair.
Sho nodded and patted Aiba’s cheek as he took his suitcase, “Ittekimasu.”
“Itterasshai!”
Aiba followed Sho’s figure who stepped outside the house and turned to see him one last time with a sweet smile. “Masaki, about our new home... I’d like to paint it white. I think it will look beautiful and clean.”
Aiba tilted his head to the side, slightly confused, “New home? Sho-chan you bought us a house?”
Sho blinked and laughed nervously. “Aaaaah…. Hahaha. Never mind! Errr.. I’m going! See you!” Sho waved and dashed to the street.
“He’s full of surprise…” Aiba sighed. “A new house… You’re doing well with your job, ne, Sho-chan…” Aiba talked to himself proudly and went inside.
Dec 22
“Masaki~”
“Sho-chan! Is it okay to call me now?”
“Yes. I’m taking a rest for a while. How are you doing?”
“Fine! Hey Sho-chan, you know the little girl from next door, right? You know… She finally talked to me! I’m so happy!”
“Eh? Who?”
“Her name is Momo, she said. Sho-chan… Actually she’s been observing me for days, but she just won’t talk to me!”
“Observing? She thought you were a rare animal, maybe?”
“Sho-chan you meanie!! You know what, I asked her why and she said she was afraid of you!!!”
“Eeeeh? Really??? Uwaaaah, I can’t be a good papa then! Are you with her now?”
“Ahahaha yes I’m with her! We’re playing houses right now! Ne, how’s work, Sho-chan?”
“Doing good here, too. I’m enjoying it here. Ah… Aaah, sorry, Masaki! Boss is calling me. I should go and prepare everything for another meeting!! I’ll call you later!”
Sho hung up. Aiba smiled weakly and sighed.
Dec 23
“Nee, Masaki, I met a little Japanese boy here. He’s staying with his family in the room next to mine. Believe it or not, he likes me!”
“Really, Sho-chan? What’s his name?”
“Mamoru-kun. He always follows me everytime he has a chance. Cute, isn’t he?”
“Eeeeh, really? Sho-chan’s fatherly aura starts to shine, ne! I’m glad to hear that!”
They kept talking to each other even though it was just a trivial conversation. An hour later, both Aiba and Sho felt sleepy and they hung up. They slept with smile adorning their faces.
Dec 24
“Ne ne Sho-chan! I had an awesome dream!!”
“Eh, what is it?”
“In my dream, we were living together in our new house. And you know, I adopted Momo-chan and Mamoru-kun as our children! We had a wonderful time! Mamoru-kun kept calling me mommy, though, I was kinda sad… He knew I’m a man yet he called me mommy!”
“Hahaha! Maybe because you’re pretty?”
“Sho-chan… You too…”
“Hahaha! I’m sorry I’m sorry! Ne, I can’t wait to see you tonight, dear…”
“Me too me too!! Sho-chan I miss you!!”
“I know, I know. Must have been hard sleeping without my scent?”
“Yes… And no hands to hold when it’s cold…”
“Hahaha don’t worry, I’ll make sure you feel warm tonight, okay?”
“Okay! Can’t wait to hug you, Sho-chan!”
Aiba hung up and smiled. Waiting for reunion. Longing for the familiar scent and warmth. Aiba dashed to the kitchen to start preparing for dinner—the special birthday dinner, Christmas Eve dinner, and welcome home dinner. Aiba was heating up the frying pan when someone knocked on his door. He rushed to open the door to find Momo-chan smiling at him.
“Momo-chan!!” Aiba kneeled and ruffled her short hair. “Hello, there, my pretty girl! How can niichan help you today?”
“Nee Masaki-niichan, why are you wearing an apron?”
“Hmm? Ah this? I’m preparing dinner for Sho-niichan— Ah! Why don’t you help me?” Aiba smiled at the little girl who just smiled widely in happiness.
“Really!?”
“Yup! Sho-chan will be happy! Okay, let’s go! Let’s go!”
The little girl nodded happily as Aiba closed the door behind them.
***
“Sho-niichan!!!”
“Eeeh? Mamoru-kun!! Were you taking this flight, too!?”
The little boy nodded and smiled. “With papa and mama!”
“And now where are they?” Sho asked, lifting the boy to sit him up on his lap.
“Leaving already. They are busy. Mamoru will now call Mr.Driver to pick Mamoru up.”
“Eh!? Why didn’t they just take you with them? You’ll be... alone, right?”
“Mamoru don’t want to disturb them! Moreover, Mamoru is a good boy so being alone is better than making papa and mama sad!”
Sho smiled seeing the smart—yet obviously sad—little boy on his lap. An idea popped inside his mind.
“Nee, Mamoru-kun. I will bring you to my house, okay? I’ll introduce you to my good friend. You can play with us until papa and mama comes home.”
Sho saw obvious glint of happiness on Mamoru’s eyes as he nodded. Sho laughed and piggy-backed the little boy, heading home for his dear lover.
“Masaki, wait for me...”
Dec 25
It was Christmas, and everything was white. Aiba was sitting on the brand new white couch, leaning his head on Sho’s shoulder, letting Sho brushed his beautiful hair softly.
“Hey Sho-chan, this is white Christmas...” Aiba giggled.
“Yes, Masaki…” Sho smiled and kissed the top of Aiba’s head. “It’s white... everything is white...”
“It’s beautiful, ne, Sho-chan! I’m so happy we’re together...”
“Masaki... It’s not that I feel unhappy... but... I kinda feel sorry...”
“Sho-chan… What’s done’s done. Now here we are, spending Christmas together… I’m glad I could see you… In our new house that you told me about...” Aiba said with trembling voice, hands clutching Sho’s shirt.
Sho felt the guilt piling up inside of him. “Sorry, Masaki… I’m sorry… I’m really sorry...” Sho started sobbing on Aiba’s head, kissing it repeatedly, clutching bunches of his hair, sniffing the familiar scent that now felt so oddly faint. Aiba sighed and bit his lower lip, trying his best not to cry.
“Sho-chan, enough saying sorry, ne? Rather than crying…” Aiba shifted and sat facing Sho, cupping Sho’s face with his hands. “You haven’t said your greeting!” he smiled.
Sho looked at Aiba and his watery eyes, frowned, and later smiled. He sighed before he planted a quick and soft kiss on the younger’s lips. “Tadaima… Masaki…”
Aiba wiped the traces of Sho’s tears with his thumb, smiling brightly, not losing the radiance to the shining Christmas lights surrounding them. He pulled Sho into a tight hug, bringing the older’s face to his shoulder and patting the back of his head. “Okaeri, Sho-chan,” Aiba turned his face, pressing his lips on Sho’s ear, whispering softly, “Merry Christmas...”
Sho clutched Aiba’s shirt tightly. “Happy birthday... and Merry Christmas, Masaki…”
They stayed like that for a long time, holding each other in a warm embrace. An odd warmth, a weird feeling, a new yet nostalgic home, but they just don’t care. They treasured this moment, their Christmas together. The promised Christmas. They’re home, together.
“Oniichan, let’s go!” the two kids called them and tugged their shirts.
“Momo-chan... Mamoru-kun...”
“Let’s go! It’s time to see the angels, oniichan!”

“Ohno-san, it was an accident. The taxi driver was saved, he’s now recovering in the hospital. The only passenger died instantly.”
“His name?”
“The taxi driver is... Matsumoto Jun-san. And the passenger is...” the man ran his finger on his paper to find the man’s name, “Sakurai Sho.”
“Was he alone?”
“Yes. He was the only passenger... Although... Matsumoto-san said he was acting as if he was talking to a little boy called ‘Mamoru’.”
“I see. We’ll discuss this further later. Now contact their families.”
“Yes, Sir!”
***
“Ninomiya-kun, can you hear me? How was it?”
Ninomiya shook his head. “Nothing we can do, Sir. He is burnt to death due to the gas stove explosion.”
“Does he live alone?”
“Looks like he’s living together with a man called ‘Sho’. I also found Aiba-san’s crayon painting of a little girl with the name ‘Momo’ between ‘Masaki’ and ‘Sho’. I tried to ask the neighbors but there are no girl by that name here.”
“Any oddities?”
“Umm... Not sure if it’s important, but they said Aiba-san was acting strange lately, they often saw himstanding at the door as if he was talking to a little kid. One of them peeked into the house the afternoon of the incident, and she saw Aiba-san cooking while talking happily to obviously no one.”
“I’ll be there in 5 minutes, Ninomiya-kun. Prepare everything.”
“Yes sir!”

A/N: okay that’s it… I… killed them… :’( I’m sorry!! >.<
Umm, for Momo and Mamoru’s characters… their existence were like a death god… they got closer to Sho and Aiba because their time were near… something like that.
