It was one autumn night when they first met.
One with his blue coat, and the other with his red jacket.
They were different, but that was what brought them close. As their hands touched and their eyes met, they knew. They knew that their cage would be made.
It was one cold winter night when they first learned about each others’ warmth.
Nevertheless they still melted as one, and that was what their hearts wanted. As their lips touched, their heartbeat accelerated and beat as one, they knew. They knew that they had sealed their fate.
It was one breezy morning of spring when secrets were unveiled.
They lamented, but their tears changed nothing. As the spring wind awakened the ice and flame inside them, they knew. They knew that they should not have had met each other.
It was one summer evening when they last kissed, in the beginning of the eternal rain.
Whenever they held each other close, it brought nothing more than pain. As their bodies changed and their tears ran out, they knew. They knew that… they should not have loved each other. But still…
“Sho… Just… hold me, I’m cold…” Satoshi crawled towards Sho on his numb, icy feet.
“Satoshi, you’ll die! Look at me, and… and… look at yourself!”
Satoshi touched Sho’s cheek, and he winced in pain as his cold fingers stung with hotness. A part of his finger cracked and fell on Sho’s lap, hissing as it burned.
“Satoshi, no! Don’t touch me!”
Drops of sweat ran down Satoshi’s cheeks as he wrapped his hands around Sho’s neck and kissed him.
“I won’t let go no matter what, Sho,” Satoshi whispered to Sho’s lips, as another drops of sweat fell on Sho’s lap.
“Satoshi… You’ll die…”
“I don’t care… ”
Sho could only stare in awe as Satoshi’s body melted and hissed, slowly but surely, leaving nothing but a pool of water in front of his very eyes.
“Satoshi!!!”
“At least I died in your hands…”
The last words were heard in a whisper. Sho called Satoshi’s name, but of course, there was no answer anymore.
Sho plunged himself in the pool of water and screamed in hopelessness as his hot body burned the water, changing it into vapor. Fire melts ice into water and water changes into vapor as fire heats them… Common sense. They knew it, but they were just lost in love.
Sho killed Satoshi. Twice.
The thunder divided the dark sky, the wind blew strongly, and the rain poured down even more heavily. The lone flame was extinguished.
“Thanks for fetching me… into nothingness.”
Sho’s last words resounded as he slowly disappeared. The rain stopped and never came back.
They knew that… they should never have loved each other. Yet they still did...
