Sho had just finally been able to fall asleep, when he was waken up again by the shaking of his bed. He turned to find Nino had already sat there beside him.
"Ne, Sho-chan, let's play some games. I bring my Wii with me," the younger said.
Sho narrowed his sleepy eyes to see the clock hanging on the wall. "Nino, it's one a.m. You should be asleep by now."
Nino rolled his eyes. "It's still eight p.m in Tokyo. Too early to sleep." He showed his watch to Sho. Nino hadn't adjusted his watch to Hawaii's local time.
"But it's already past midnight now, here. You should sleep. We have a tight schedule tomorrow," the older repeat in a hoarse-sleepy voice.
"I can't sleep. It's too hot here. And there are so many mosquitoes. Besides, my bed isn't comfortable at all. And I'm hungry."
"There's an air conditioner in every room, in case you haven't seen it," Sho pointed to the air conditioner on the wall above the window. "And there's not a single mosquito here. And I think the beds are very comfortable. And-- if you're hungry, you should find something to eat. Not asking me to play games."
"The food here doesn't suit my taste at all. It will hurt my stomach if I eat those foods," Nino pouted.
Sho let out a tired sigh. "Nino, you're tired."
"I'm not."
"Yes, you are."
"Sho-chan!" the younger whined.
Sho reached for Nino's wrist, and patted the surface of the bed beside him with his free hand.
"Come," he said.
Nino obeyed his gesture, and lay down on the empty spot beside his band mate. Sho curled his hand around Nino's waist, pulling the younger closer to him; very close, until Nino could feel the older's warm breath on top of his head.
"Feel better now?" Sho asked after they lay down there for about ten minutes in silence.
But no answer. Sho glanced down at his band mate, and he wasn't surprised to find Nino had already drifted away to a deep slumber. His chest moved up and down softly, as he breathed in and out evenly. Sho was right: Nino was just tired.
It had been fifteen years since their debut, and if Sho recalled, this kind of thing was always happening everytime they went together for overseas jobs. The exhausted Nino nagged Sho to do weird things, like accompanying him to play games, or to watch him doing his card tricks in the middle of the night.
This annoyed Sho very much at the beginning. But as time went by, he slowly understood, that it was the way Nino hid his vulnerable side. What Sho found out later was, the younger always felt uncomfortable every time he was away from home. That's why in the end Nino always ran to his place. He just wanted to look for some comfort, and he could only find it in Sho.
Sho smiled at those memories. He tightened his embrace around Nino's waist, then shifted a bit to plant a kiss on top of the younger's head.
"Have a nice sleep, Nino."
