"Whooa! It moves! It moves! We did it!" Masaki shouted vigorously when the pen on the low table started to stand up magically, without being touched by anybody.

"Guys... Let's just stop this," Sho spoke with a shaking voice.

Kazunari sneered. "Oh, come on, Sho-chan. You're fifteen already. The oldest of us all. Don't say that you're afraid, while we're not."

"I-- I'm not afraid!" Sho protested, "I'm just thinking that it's a bad idea to play with a dead man's spirit like this. What if... What if..."

"What?"

"What if something bad happened?"

Kazunari rolled his eyes, "Nothing bad will happen, Sho-chan. I've played this game many times before, and look, here I am now, fine and healthy."

"I agree with Sho-kun," Jun raised his voice, "Let's just... Stop."

"Well, if you two are afraid, then go to sleep already. Masaki and I will keep going on," Kazunari said with the tone of finishing the arguments, then he turned back towards the standing pen. "Come on Masaki, ask some questions!"

"Ah, okay. Hmm..." Masaki frowned, then spoke to the pen on the table. "Let's start with the most basic question, then. What is your name?"

They had been told to go, but in the end, Sho and Jun stayed in the living room with their two overly-brave friends. Actually, they were curious too, about this. Did they really manage to call a dead man's spirit with just a simple ritual like that?

Sho jumped a little on his seat when the pen started to dance slowly on the table, writing something on a piece of paper Masaki had prepared there.

S-A-T-O-S-H-I.

"Oh, Satoshi, ne? Hello, Satoshi-kun. I'm Masaki, and these are my friends, Kazu, Sho, and Jun. Nice to meet you. Then, er..." Masaki stopped for a while to think of other question. Then he turned towards Sho and Jun, "Why don't you two try to ask something to him too?"

"Eh, I..." Sho felt his forehead began to sweat.

Kazunari scoffed, "See? You're afraid."

"I'm not!" Sho shouted defensively, "I-- I'll ask him now. Watch me." He turned to stare at the waiting pen on the table. "H-how old are you...?"

The pen stood still, unmoving. Kazu and Masaki stared at Sho.

"W-what?"

"Your question is wrong. Watch me," Kazunari shifted his gaze back to the pen, "How old were you when you died?"

2-5.

"See?" Kazunari glanced towards Sho, who tilted his head, wincing.

"Your turn," Masaki said to Jun.

"Hmm," Jun hesitated at his place. His right hand unconsciously tugged on the lower part of Sho's t-shirt. "W-what were you, when you were still alive?"

The pen floated a little above the paper, and made a circling move, as if it was thinking, before then, slowly started to write again.

M-U-R-D-E-R-E-R.

Four pair of eyes widened in surprise to see the word written on the paper in front of them.

"Guys," Sho raised his voice again, this time sounded suffocated, "We should stop now, really."

"No," Kazunari replied. There's a daring bolt on his eyes, as he smirked mischievously, "This is getting more interesting. Nah, Satoshi-kun, how did you die?"

D-E-A-T-H
P-E-N-A-L-T-Y
.

"Eeh?" Masaki's eyes grew rounder. "Tell me the detail."

A
S-H-O-T
O-N
M-Y
H-E-A-D
.

"Wheeee~" Masaki smirked.

Jun shook his head. Really, his two friends were either too brave or stupid, or both, to be excited over something creepy like this.

"I'm going to sleep," he announced. But when he was going to stand up, Kazunari, who sat on his left side, held his hand, preventing him from going.

"How many people have you killed?"

"Kazu!"

C-O-U-N-T-L-E-S-S.

"Then, if you're able to live again, do you still want to kill?"

Y-E-S
.
K-I-L-L-I-N-G
I-S
F-U-N
.

Even Masaki was now feeling a goosebumps on his nape reading that answer. His smile from earlier had already gone from his face.

E-V-E-N
N-O-W
I
F-E-E-L
L-I-K-E
K-I-L-L-I-N-G
S-O-M-E-O-N-E
.

"Er... Kazu, I think this is enough for tonight," he said.

"Wait," Kazunari said, "One more question," there was a strange quiver on his voice, "And who is that...? Who do you want to kill?"

The pen made another circling moved on the air again, then it wrote down its answer on the paper very slowly. Their eyes widened again, because the pen's ink--which was black at the beginning--had suddenly become red. Bloody red.

Y

O

U

.

"Oh, shit!" Kazunari shouted, then hurriedly stood up, "RUN!"

But he never managed to do so, because the pen suddenly flew towards him, and with a loud stabbing sound, it went right through his chest.

"KAZU!!" Masaki yelled in horror.

"Let's get out of here, NOW!" Sho grabbed Jun's right hand, then dragged him out of the living room as fast as he could.

The last thing Jun saw was Kazunari twitched on the floor, gasping and wincing in pain, as a lot of blood started to flow from his wounded chest, painted his white t-shirt in red. Then everything became dark, as the electricity in the villa suddenly down.

*

Jun hid under a large bed inside the guest room, covering both of his ears with his hands, trying to block Masaki's screaming, which sent shiver all over his body. His cousin sounded as if he was in a great agony, making Jun closed his eyes in fear. He shook his head, trying to erase the scary image of the murderer's spirit doing something really bad to Masaki in his mind.

"No..." he whispered in desperation. He wanted to go out. He wanted to help Masaki and Kazunari. But he was too afraid to do so.

Beside him, Sho stretched his arm in the darkness, and circled it around Jun's shoulder, dragging the younger into his embrace. Jun could feel Sho's body was shaking in his own fear, but still, he whispered shooting words to calm him down.

"It's... It's okay, Jun. If we keep hiding here, we'll be fine... He won't be able to find us... It's okay..."

"But... But Masaki and Kazu..." Jun started to sob.

"... We can't do anything about them..." Sho replied in a bitter tone, then bit his lower lip to prevent his own tears from falling.

It was silence again, after Masaki's last moan disappeared. Jun moved his hands from his ears to his mouth, trying to block any sounds he might make. Sho's hug on him tightened.

They waited there in the dark, staring straight at the lower side of the bedroom door that could be seen from where they hid.

If only they went against Kazunari's silly idea to play the spirit-call game earlier, all of this wouldn't be happening. This should be a fun summer holiday, where they spent their time together, only the four of them, in Sho's uncle's luxurious villa. But now, it turned out to be the worst nightmare for them.

Sound of footsteps drawing closer to their hiding place could be heard clearly in the silence like that. The owner of the feet stopped in front of the guest room door. They could see his shadow from the narrow gap between the lower side of the door and the floor's surface.

This was bad. Apparently, Satoshi had now had a solid form. He wasn't just a mere spirit anymore. And it meant that Jun and Sho were in a very great danger.

"I know you two are still inside here~" he spoke with a calm and deep voice. So calm, that it sounded creepy.

Jun took a glance towards Sho. In the dark, he could see vaguely Sho's expression tensed, as he stared at the shadow without blinking.

"So you two want to play hide and seek with me?" he spoke again, then chuckled, "Alright, I'll play with you~"

The bedroom door slowly opened with a creepy creak, sending shiver down Jun's spine.

"Hello?"

Satoshi went inside and directly checked the wardrobe. "Heee, empty~"

Jun's body tensed, when Satoshi's feet moved away from the wardrobe, to at last stopped right in front of them. If Satoshi bent down, then he would directly find them.

Tears of fear began to stream down Jun's cheek. He stuffed his fist inside his mouth to muffle his sobs. He felt Sho's hand on his shoulder shaking harder.

"How about... Under the bed...?"

Sho clenched his fist, then let go of his hug on Jun's shoulder. Jun's heart sank to his stomach, when he suddenly see Sho began to crawl forward in the dark, wanted to get out from their hiding place.

"S-- Sho-kun...!" he let out a restrained whisper, reached to take a hold on Sho's foot to prevent him from leaving.

Sho turned to stare at him. He smiled weakly towards Jun, then whispered, "When he catches me, you have to run, Jun. Run as fast as you can, and find help. Understand?"

"No...!" Jun gasped, but Sho had already shook his foot off from Jun's grip.

Sho took a deep breath, then swayed his fist towards the pair of foot in front of him. If he really had to die tonight, he refused to die without any resistances.

To his surprise, Satoshi jumped to the side to avoid Sho's fist, and then quickly grabbed the boy's wrist.

"Got you!" he said, still in his calm tone, dragging Sho out forcefully from under the bed, as Sho struggled to resist.

Jun shook his head hard. This was a great chance for him to run, but his body froze. He couldn't do it. He couldn't leave his beloved Sho alone to die in that evil spirit's hand.

"Jun!" Sho yelled at him among his gasps, "Run!"

"Oh, so both of you are hiding here? Great then. I don't need to search for the other one. Okay, sweetheart, be a good boy and stay at your place. After I finish this one, your turn will come."

"JUN! RUN!"

Jun forced his body to move. He dragged his frozen feet, and crawled out from under the bed, from the opposite side where Satoshi was standing. He felt his feet was trembling so hard, as he dashed across the room towards the exit.

From the tail of his eyes, Jun could see a man, with a small figure, was holding Sho by the neck with only one hand, lifting him to the air as if Sho wasn't heavy at all, suffocating him. Sho struggled for air, his feet kicked to random directions in his last attempt to defend his life.

The view really broke his heart to pieces. His beloved Sho was sacrificing his precious life for him. Jun really wanted to stop and help Sho, but he knew he would never succeeded. If he did so, he would only waste Sho's sacrifice. Jun knew that Sho wanted him to keep on living. That's why the older asked him to run. So then, Jun decided to obey his last order.

He ran like crazy, crossing the living room, trying not to hit or trip by anything. The sickening smell of blood filled the air, making Jun felt a sudden nausea. The living room had become a small pool of blood. Jun could see Kazunari's and Masaki's dead body laid there in the dark, covered by their own blood.

Jun cried so hard all along the way. He crashed the front door, tumbling, as he crossed the grassy yard to get out of the villa complex.

"Help!" he started to call. "Anybody, help me!!"

But he knew, the villa was up above the hill. The nearest house was still about two kilometers downhill.

Jun increased his speed, running desperately through the night.

Where were everybody when he needed them the most??

"Why are you such in a hurry, boy?"

That voice. Jun stiffened and his feet suddenly froze.

"We're still in the middle of a game. I would count it as cheating if you call for help."

Jun turned, and there he saw him. Satoshi, miraculously had been standing there right behind him.

"Let me go!"

Satoshi clicked his tongue. "It's you guys who called me in the first place. And now that I'm here, you can't just run away and leave me. That's rude, you know?"

He watched Jun with his pair of deep, dark eyes. The eyes that were so calm, yet intimidating. He was so pale, and there--Jun's eyes widened in shock when he saw it--on the middle of his forehead, there was a bullet hole.

Satoshi realized Jun's shocked gaze at his forehead. He then traced the hole with his fingers casually.

"Ah, this. Beautiful, isn't it?" he smiled a little, "Do you want it too?"

Jun shook his head hard. He tried to run again, but there was a great power keeping his feet on their place, that he couldn't get away anymore. He knew it must be Satoshi playing with his evil power.

"But I have to disappoint you, that I can't sculpt the same beautiful hole on your forehead today. I don't have a gun, sorry," Satoshi walked to approach Jun, then stopped right in front of the trembling boy. "However, I have this..."

Jun saw a big knife full of blood in Satoshi's hand. His friends' blood. Sho's blood.

"No," Jun started to sob, as his body had totally paralyzed now, by Satoshi's evil power, "Please, don't... Please..."

"Don't worry, it won't be long," Satoshi watched the knife in his hand, with a nostalgic smile on his lips, "It's been a long while since the last time I did this..."

Jun knew that he wouldn't be able to safe his life. He felt really sorry for Sho, who had sacrificed himself for him, yet Jun couldn't fulfill the older's request to keep on living.

"I'm sorry Sho-kun, I'm so sorry..."

"And now," Satoshi's attention finally back to Jun, "Shall we do it now?"

He smiled wide, really wide. Jun watched helplessy, as Satoshi lifted his knife high to the air, then thrust it down fast towards him.

Then everything became dark.

Ah, well... This is the first time I write this kind of story... And I think this is not that scary for a horror story (?)
Well, I hope this is still good enough, though it's just a typical horror story, and not so scary >.<
Once again, GOMENASAI! >.<

In the middle to the end it feels more thriller/suspense than horror. But it's still terrifying enough.
And I hate how their villa was up the hill with nothing around. It was too hopeless. :'(

But this is a good story! Thank you for sharing this! :D
